Athletics:
1) Congrats to the Varsity Girls Basketball team on their playoff win over Sackville last night.  The girls advance to the Metro semifinals and play at Dartmouth tonight at 6 pm.

2) Congrats to the Girls Hockey team as they opened the regional tournament with two wins yesterday.  The girls defeated CPA 7-2 and Halifax West 4-1.  The girls take on Auburn this morning in the final round robin game.

3) Good luck to the Curling team as they take on SJA today at 1pm at the Mayflower curling club.  Team members are to be dismissed at 11:00 am.

4) Good luck to the Boys Hockey team as they look to even up their series with Citadel today at 4:30 pm at the RBC Centre.

Guidance:
*The Lieutenant Governor’s Medal is awarded to two (2) Grade 11 students who show leadership, strong community and school involvement, and have commendable marks.  If you would like to nominate a Grade 11 student for this award, please forward their name to Mr. Blakeney by Friday, Feb. 21st, 2020 via e-mail at Jblakeney@hrce.ca.

Band:
*There will be jazz band after school today.

Other:
*Remember to bring in socks for the student council sock drive. The A block class that brings in the most socks will get an ice cream party.

*Acts for Aids tickets will be on sale today at lunch.

Black History Month:
*Quentrel Provo from North Preston founded Stop the Violence, Spread the Love, a brand aimed at eliminating violence in our communities. Due to his work with this organization Provo was named to the UN’s international list of the 100 most influential people of African descent under 40.
