Athletics:
1) Congrats to the Baseball team on a strong showing at this year's Metro Championships.  The boys made it to the semifinals.  Team members are asked to return their jerseys to Mr. Wilcox this week.
2) Members of the Golf team are asked to return their shirts to Mr. Wilcox this week.
3) Tryouts for the Girls Hockey team will continue this week on Wednesday at 4pm at the Sackville Arena.
4) Good luck to the JV Boys Soccer team as they take on Sommet today at 4:30 at Sackville Heights.  The boys are to be dismissed at 3:15pm.
5) Good luck to the Boys Volleyball team as they play at SJA tonight at 6pm.

Guidance:
This is a reminder that if you are interested in applying for the Loran Scholarship you must apply on line at http://www.loranscholar.ca/  before Oct. 10th, 2018.   While filling out the on-line application, you will be asked if you are school sponsored for this award.  At this stage of the process please click yes. Loran Organization will send an e-mail to the Guidance Counsellor that you list on your application stating that you are asking to be school sponsored by Lockview High School.  Between Oct. 10th and Oct. 17th, Lockview’s selection committee will decide which of the applicants will be school sponsored for this year. On or before Oct. 17th, Lockview will be able indicate on the three chosen student’s on-line applications if they are school sponsored for this year.  All other students would be rerouted to the Direct Pool for consideration for Oct. 24th, 2018 deadline.  Please be advised that Lockview will not consider students for this scholarship whom submit an application after Oct. 10th

Band:
Any students who auditioned for senior band should see Mrs. Burtt at lunch today.
There will be senior band tomorrow after school with guest conductor Dylan Rook Maddix.
Jazz band starts this week Thursday after school until 4:40.
All small ensembles will meet this Wednesday at lunch for a short meeting - sax , flute, clarinet and brass ensemble.
Volare the school choir will meet this Friday at lunch.

Other:
There will be a prom meeting in room B109 today at lunch.

The Lockview gaming club meets every Tuesday and Thursday at Lunch in room F208. All are welcome!!

Improv club will meet every Tuesday and Thursday at lunch Backstage (F106).

Best Buddies forms are due back in D109 at lunch today.

WE Social Entrepreneurship Program
Youth aged 14 to 19 can apply to the WE Social Entrepreneurship Program for the upcoming session starting on October 9. Application deadline is Oct 4.

WE believes that young people have the power to change the world—and the WE Social Entrepreneurship Program provides the tools to make that happen. This 10-part program at the WE Global Learning Centre in Toronto empowers young social entrepreneurs to develop and launch their own social enterprise, giving them access to helpful resources, mentorship and connections with like-minded individuals. Whether it’s starting a non-profit or mobilizing friends to contribute to social justice, this program helps students take the next steps to making their world-changing idea a reality.

Program details
The WE Social Entrepreneurship Program is run by trained WE staff, including experienced educators and leadership facilitators. The program features sessions run by industry experts in leadership, business and social entrepreneurship.
•         The program is a 10-part learning experience for youth aged 14 to 19, taking place at the WE Global Learning Center (339 Queen St East, downtown Toronto).
•         Sessions run every Tuesday evening for 3-hrs (6-9pm ET) from Oct 9 to Dec 13, along with a weekend pitching prep session on Dec 8 and 9.
•         Space is limited to 15 in-person participants from the Greater Toronto Area (GTA), and 5 virtual spots for youth located across the nation.
•         Applications will be reviewed, and successful candidates will be selected on the merit of their application.
•         Applications close on Oct 4, and successful applicants will be notified on Oct 5.
