Athletics:
1) Gr. 9 Girls flag football tryouts continue today at 3:30 pm.

2) Good luck to the JV Girls Basketball team as they play at Grammar tonight at 6:30 pm.

3) Training for both the girls and boys’ rugby teams will be held in the gym tonight at 7:30 pm.

Band:
*There will be senior band today after school.

*There will be Jazz band is Thursday after school.

*ALL ensemble leaders will have a quick meeting at the beginning of lunch today.

Other:
*If you took Art in first semester and would like any of your finished artwork, including your sketchbook, please pick it up before Friday from Ms. McWilliam in room F110.

*All first semester parking passes must be returned to Mrs. Daigle before you will be eligible to apply for second semester pass.

*Any NS Virtual School students who have not yet spoken to Mr. MacDonald, please do so today in Guidance.

*There will be a Youth Action Team meeting today in the Youth Health Centre at lunch. New members with an interest in health are welcome to join.

*This week’s Dragon of the week is swimmer Jack Mack and the student salute goes out to Ms. Miles.

*Acts for Aids tickets will go on sale next week.  Tickets will be $5.

*There will be a sock drive for A block classes from February 10th -24th.  The goal is to collect 2,500 pairs of socks.

Black History Month:
*Mayann Elizabeth Francis was born in Sydney, Cape Breton and is a graduate of Saint Mary's University.  She was the director and CEO of the Nova Scotia Human Rights Commission from 1999-2006 and served as the first woman appointed as Nova Scotia's provincial ombudsman from 2000 until 2003.  In 2006, Mayann Francis was appointed as Lieutenant Governor of Nova Scotia. She was the first African Nova Scotian to serve in this position.
